CYCLE THE WORLD 2020
6 - 14 June 2020
In 2020 more than 50 people took part in our virtual Cycle the World, raising £6,137 for hospices in Poland and Lithuania! We cycled a total of 12,320km in Poland, Lithuania, England, France, America and Canada. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who took cycled, donated and supported us.
A special shout out (and a collector’s edition Alina Foundation Cycle the World mug) goes to:
An even bigger shout out to Janusz Holender, who gets an extra special jersey – he not only does all the hard work behind the Alina Foundation but managed to cycle over 1000km. And a special thank you to Team Vancouver, who rode over 1,3000km between them in one day: Piers, Dan, Tom, Eva, Ali, Vickie, James, Alex, Kass, Sarah, Sean, Craig, Alice and Karen! Chapeau bas to everyone! We were very sad to cancel this year’s Cycle Europe ride due to the coronavirus pandemic, but we knew that the hospices we support need help, now more than ever. Raising funds in person and through real-life events has been impossible, prices for personal protective equipment have skyrocketed, and the people hospices care for are among the most vulnerable to COVID-19. Thanks to the money raised during the virtual ride we were able to buy personal protective equipment for hospice staff, paid the wages of doctors and nurses who’ve continued to work through the pandemic, and even supported everyday costs such as electricity so that hospices can stay open. We’ve also continued to fund essential equipment such as beds and oxygen concentrators. We couldn’t do any of that without your support, so THANK YOU! If you would still like to donate, you can do using the donate button on the right. And if you have an opportunity to help a local hospice or someone in your community at this time, please do so. While many of us are strong and healthy, let’s do what we can to help those who are most vulnerable. We plan to come back with an even more awesome and special Cycle Europe 2021. Same route, same great adventure, 13 – 20 June 2021. It’ll be an opportunity to do all the things we love and miss – to be outside, in a group, to travel, and to do something to help those who have been dramatically affected by this crisis. |
