DarłowoThe Darłowo hospice and care home has 21 beds. Of these, 10 are reserved for patients in the terminal stages of cancer, who require palliative care. The home provides professional and kind medical care: doctors, nurses, a physiotherapist, psychologist and chaplain. The team includes sisters from the Merciful Jesus order.
During Cycle Poland 2013, our riders presented the hospice with a surgery lamp, physiotherapy equipment, equipment for washing the hair of bed-bound patients and medical supplies. The Director of the hospice showed the team around the hospice grounds, told us of future plans (including creating a hospice garden), the engagement of volunteers, and the hospice staff – people who can create a homely and warm atmosphere and provide constant professional medical care for those with serious illnesses. “Cycle Poland is a great initiative, which changes the way people think about hospices. The participants have become part of our community of volunteers, and the more people there are like them, the better.” – Father Sendecki, director of the Darlowo hospice.
