Łomża
The Association of the Friends of Patients of the Holy Ghost Hospice in Łomża was created in 1992 to organise professional care for patients in the terminal stage of cancer.
By 1 December 1993 the newly created hospice was already providing care within the city of Łomża and the region. In February 2003 a new building was built, which became an association of health centres and thereby was able to also support patients with Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis and stroke. Currently the association cares for people within the whole region and includes a residential hospice (with 7 beds), a home care hospice (which looks after patients in their own homes, within 30 km of the association) and a care-cure clinic (with 8 spaces). The goal of the hospice is to improve the quality of life of patients in the terminal phase of cancer by ensuring around the clock palliative care, as well as psychological and spiritual help. This is carried out by staff with the necessary qualifications with the support of volunteers. The Association also lends out equipment to help care for patients in their homes: beds, anti-bedsore mattresses, wheelchairs, walkers etc. In 2013 the Alina Foundation and Cycle Poland donated a blood clotting meter.
