Created under the auspices of the Silesia Children's Hospice Foundation, this health care centre is the first palliative care team in the Silesia region dedicated exclusively to children. The team supports patients within a 100km radius.
The home care hospice provides specialist care for terminally ill children where they live, once the doctor and parents decide to end hospital treatment. This allows parents to fully care for their children at home. It is very important to support families during hard times. The goal of the care provided is to reduce the suffering and improve the quality of life of both the ill child and their whole family. The hospice currently cares for around 32 children and their families. To date, the Alina Foundation has donated:
"The Silesian Children's Hospice Foundation sincerely thanks the Alina Foundation for the will to help the terminally ill children under our care by donating a specialist bed. Thank you for this gift straight from the heart! The bed is at the home of one of our patients. Having this bed has improved his quality of life and reduced the risk of bedsores." - Natasza Godlewska, President of the Foundation Read more on the hospice website. |
