Zywiec

The Zywiec hospice is run entirely by volunteers and cares for patients and their families in their own homes. In 2012 Cycle Poland riders delivered two oxygen concentrators, one of which was delivered to Halina and put to good use within an hour of our arrival.

"The two brand new oxygen concetrators are a very valuable gift. Even more so because for many days Halina - one of our patients - was keenly waiting for a concentrator that would help control her exhausting struggles to breathe.  She was delighted to hear that she would soon receive this longed for piece of equipment. In fact, the concentrator was on its way even whilst we were meeting with the cyclists."

To date, the Alina Foundation and Cycle Poland have donated:

• in 2012, five anti-bedsore mattresses, two oxygen concentrators, two pulse-oxymeters, a set of equipment to wash patients' hair in bed 
• in 2013, two oxygen concentrators, five anti-bedsore mattresses, and a set of equipment to wash patients' hair in bed 
• in 2015, eight anti-bedsore mattresses, two oxygen concentrators 
• in 2016, two oxygen concentrators, seven anti-bedsore mattresses, parcels of dressigns and surgical gloves
• in 2019, two oxygen concentrators and three anti-bedsore mattresses

In the name of Halina and all our patients who will use the oxygen concentrators received from the Foundation we would like to sincerely thank Ewa and Janusz and all the cyclists, for their goodness of heart, strength in cycling through exhaustion and pain, and for simply being there and not ceasing in wanting to help hospices. The equipment that we have received will help very much in our hospice work. May God reward the goodness of heart that we have experienced from the Foundation.

The Holenders' contact with the hospice movement has generated amazing amounts of human kindness, that seem to have no limits in spreading and infecting yet more cyclists with the desire to help  others.
