I naively assumed that commuting to work would be a good preparation for a cycling trip. A few training rides later, I'm beginning to realize that 15 minutes of dodging buses every morning, whilst good for my reaction times, is not going to get me from one end of Poland to the other.
I'm now relying on two things to get me through: - blind faith in Ewa's theory that Poland is flat and windless; and - a whizzy new bike. Should this not work out, I'm not above feigning injury / calling in secret taxis. On the positive side, I'm hoping to raise some money to support Ewa's charitable efforts, which may or may not make up for the amount of whining the rest of the team will have to put up with as I haul myself onto the bike each morning.
