PulawyThe hospice serves a region with about 120,000 inhabitants. A residential unit was completed in 2009 after four years' work. The hospice continues to provide domestic care, and in total looks after about 300 people each year.
"When we started we really had no idea where the money would come from. With the building we were able to fulfill a lot of our dreams - that each patient has a proper rehabilitative bed and mattress, that they are comfortable. Patients are here because they can't cope at home and there is no one to look after them - for them we try to replicate a bit of their family, a bit of home."
